How do you get from The Hague Central Station to Scheveningen and Kijkduin?

From The Hague Central Station, you can travel quickly and easily to Scheveningen and Kijkduin by public transport. These are the most popular routes:

• Tram 9 towards Scheveningen Noord (Rijnstraat exit next to Starbucks)
• Bus 22 towards Duindorp via Scheveningen (Bus platform K)
• Bus 24 towards Kijkduin (Bus platform J)
• Bus 28 towards Zuiderstrand (Bus platform O)

The bus station is located at the rear of the station. From the central station concourse, you can easily reach the bus platform by following the signs for the buses. The bus platform is one floor above the station concourse and can be reached via stairs, an escalator or a lift.

How do you buy a ticket for public transport?

You need a valid ticket to travel on public transport. Whether you choose OVpay, an OV-chipkaart or an HTM day ticket, there are various ways to purchase a ticket and easily use the tram, bus, metro and train.

• OVpay is the latest way to pay for public transport. You use your debit card, credit card or mobile phone with contactless payment to check in and out. This works on trams, buses, the metro and trains. At the end of the day, the fare is automatically debited from your account. For more information and an overview of your travel costs, you can download the OVpay app. The OV-pas is available from HTM Service Points, online or at a Primera shop.
   
• With an OV-chipkaart, you can travel easily on public transport throughout the Netherlands. The card is valid on trams, metros, buses and trains and can be purchased or topped up at the OV Service & Tickets shop at The Hague Central Station and The Hague Hollands Spoor.
   
• With an HTM day ticket, HTM 3-day ticket or HTM Children’s Day Ticket, you can travel unlimited on HTM trams and buses. These tickets are available at the HTM Service Points at The Hague Central Station and The Hague Hollands Spoor, and via the HTM app.

The Hague Central Station offers a range of facilities for travellers and visitors.

Lockers

In the basement of the station concourse, accessible via the stairs next to the OV Service & Tickets shop or the lift near Julia’s, you’ll find luggage lockers for the temporary storage of bags and suitcases. You can choose between a small or large locker, which can be hired for up to three consecutive days (72 hours).

Bicycle parking

Beneath The Hague Central Station is a large, secure bicycle park with space for 1,650 bicycles. You can park your bicycle here free of charge for the first 24 hours; after that, a rate of € 1,40 per day applies. You can also hire a (public transport) bicycle here. The entrance is temporarily located at the side of the station. You can easily reach the car park via a footpath from Rijnstraat.

Public transport bikes and bike hire

You can hire a public transport bike at the underground cycle park. This makes it easy to cycle from The Hague Central Station to Scheveningen, Kijkduin or the centre of The Hague. Scheveningen is about a 20-minute cycle away, whilst Kijkduin can be reached in around 40 minutes. Once you reach your destination, you can use various secure cycle parks, where you can park your bike free of charge for a day.

Toilets

The toilets are located on level -1. Take the stairs or lift down near Broodzaak/Julia’s. The cost is € 1,10 per visit. You can easily pay with coins or contactless.
