At almost 600 years old, The Hague Tower is one of the oldest buildings in The Hague. The Hague Tower is the traveller's landmark and silhouette of the skyline. The Hague Tower has also served as a sentry post and night and fire watch. A unique hexagonal church tower, built that way to arm it against the ever-present sea wind. Revolutions, conversions, different owners, wars, French occupation and lightning strikes. The Hague Tower has seen them all in its very eventful history.

The bells, too, have endured a lot. From war to theft and always just barely not lost or melted down. Seen the bottom of the IJsselmeer and found their way back to the old familiar Hague Tower.

With a total of 51 bells at a height of 80 metres, the carillon is one of the highest and largest carillons in the Netherlands. Every 15 minutes, the automatic tune plays to tell the time. Three times a week (originally on market days Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:00 to 13:00), the city carillonneur, Gijsbert Kok, plays the carillon for an hour. We will share this and much more with you during your visit to The Hague Tower.

Also a fun outing for groups, a guide will accompany you through the tower and take you through its history.
