ALBA Theaterhuis – Reading Concert
On Wednesday 29 July 2026, ALBA Theaterhuis combines storytelling and live music in one evening programme at Zuiderparktheater in The Hague. Actress Saskia Mees reads aloud while three musicians provide a musical backdrop. Entry is free and no reservation is needed.
Stories and music rarely go hand in hand as naturally as they do at this reading concert. Actress Saskia Mees reads a selection of stories by authors including beloved writer Toon Tellegen, and as the words fill the air, the musicians take over. Leah Uijterlinde plays clarinet and sings, Angelina Engels brings cello and vocals, and Tim Panman handles guitar. Together, they give the adventures on the page an extra dimension.
ALBA Theaterhuis in The Hague
ALBA Theaterhuis is known for accessible and inventive theatre productions that break open classic formats. A reading concert is a fine example: it is neither a children's show nor a straightforward concert, but something precisely in between. The programme is divided into two parts with an interval.
't Oog: The New Stage Over the Water
The concert takes place on 't Oog, the new outdoor stage at Zuiderparktheater that literally extends over the water. The setting gives the evening a special atmosphere, particularly during the summer months. No reservation needed: just turn up and take a seat.
