Back Street

Come and rap, write poetry and play games at the Back Street exhibition at the Children’s Book Museum

A literary adventure for young adults

Back Street leads you through dark alleyways to ten different spaces. Come and try your luck with literary stories in the casino, meet contemporary writers in the Gym, or learn how to seduce with words in the Limousine.

At the Bunker, you’ll play an escape room based on exciting stories, and at the Bakfiets you’ll get to work on your own song or rap. At the Tattoo Shop, you’ll bare all by reacting to situations from your favourite book. Ready? Tattoo artist Sjon will ink a personalised tattoo onto your arm straight away!

At Back Street, meet authors such as Khalid Boudou, Marieke Lucas Rijneveld, Jason Reynolds, Angie Thomas, Gershwin Bonevacia and Elten Kiene.

After your visit to Back Street , you’ll receive personalised book recommendations by email, based on all the games you’ve played.
