Blue Week invites you to experience the sea in a whole new way. Discover how people, nature and technology are working together to shape the future. Exhibitions, films and experiences explore the role the ocean plays in nature, sustainable energy and the climate.

A wave of activities

Across The Hague, museums and other venues invite you to explore what is happening both above and below the water. Through exhibitions, films and experiences, discover the role the ocean plays in nature, energy and climate. Experience and learn how the sea can contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable future.

Energy from the sea

We know offshore wind turbines as a source of renewable energy. But the sun, waves, tides and ocean currents also offer opportunities for a cleaner and more resilient energy system. During Blue Week, discover how we can harness these natural sources of energy and what we are learning about their impact on marine life. Floating solar platforms, for example, can provide new habitats for mussels and other organisms, which in turn become part of local food webs.

Port of Scheveningen

The Port of Scheveningen is also an important part of Blue Week. During an exclusive guided tour, you’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the blue economy and discover how developments at sea are connected to our coast. The port brings together a range of innovative applications, from ocean energy and autonomous vessels to underwater robotics. Learn how new ideas are being explored in practice and what the sea can teach us about the future.

Blue Week is organised by Bluespring on behalf of the Municipality of The Hague.
