Performer on stage at Grey Space in the Middle during an open mic evening with live music

On Thursday 24 September, Het Zwarte Schaap hosts Crash Event #13, an open mic evening for poetry, spoken word and live music at Grey Space in the Middle in The Hague. Performances are accompanied live by a house band, and anyone who wants to can simply step up to the microphone.

Connection between words and music

Crash Event is back for its thirteenth edition, and this time it is all about the connection between words and music. Inspired by the intimate format of Tiny Desk performances, Damani Leidsman leads an evening where poets, spoken word artists and storytellers perform with a live house band behind them. Whether you prefer to go solo, bring a beat or let the band take over entirely is up to you. There is room to experiment, improvise and create something that only exists on this one evening.

Open mic at Grey Space in the Middle in The Hague

Crash Event is open to everyone: those who want to perform and those who simply want to listen. The audience is there to support, not to judge. Together, performers and visitors form a collective jam session that lets the many voices of the city be heard. Sign up to perform via the form on the event page, or reserve a free ticket to watch.

Het Zwarte Schaap: platform for spoken literature

Het Zwarte Schaap is a The Hague-based platform for spoken literature. It gives writers and performers space to grow, experiment and share their work with an audience that truly listens. Crash Event #13 opens the new season at Grey Space in the Middle and is a great introduction to everything the platform has to offer.
