From 24 October to 22 November, Quartair in The Hague is presenting the unique art exhibition ‘cud series’. During this creative experiment, various artists will be working with the same material: 32 old doors. Each week, a new artwork will be created, with the next artist building on what the previous one has left behind.

Five weeks of art and creativity

What happens when artists are given the same materials, but each uses their own ideas and techniques? During the ‘cud’ series, each artist is given five days to create a new work of art from 32 reused doors.

As a result, the exhibition changes every week. The doors are reused time and again, taking on ever-changing forms and meanings. This creates a unique interplay between different artists, disciplines and creative ideas.

A new exhibition every week

During the ‘cud series’, different artists take turns working with the same material. The programme consists of:

  • 24 October: Frans van Hoek
  • 31 October: Jasper Niens
  • 7 November: Karin Iturralde Nurnberg
  • 14 November: Jette Kelholt
  • 21 November: Ossip Blits, Omer van Soldt and Ruben Dijkstal

An opening takes place every Saturday from 5.00 pm to 10.00 pm. On Sundays, the exhibition is open from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm.

Art that is constantly changing

What makes the ‘cud’ series special is that not a single artwork is preserved. Each new artist builds on the work of their predecessor. The entire creative process is documented in images and ultimately compiled in a special publication with a print run of just 100 copies.
