Colorful abstract brush strokes in purple and brown.

Discover Between Berlin and The Hague, an exhibition by Danielle Stabel and Hans-Peter Stark. Paintings, drawings and photographic works showcase the development of both artists.

Danielle Stabel and Hans-Peter Stark studied together at the art academy in Mainz. They have been following each other’s artistic development ever since. In their work, they experiment with various colour materials and painting techniques. Adopting an exploratory approach, they each develop their own visual language.

What’s on?

The exhibition brings together paintings, photographic works and drawings from various periods. The selection is not arranged chronologically, but shows how the works complement one another and evoke new meanings.

Colour, texture and form play an important role. The works range from striking contrasts and black-and-white compositions to experiments with stone paper and the use of lines, both within and outside the frame.

A dialogue between two artists

A key feature of the exhibition is the contrast between one artist’s abstract painting style and the other’s more narrative and figurative approach. It is precisely these differences that create a dialogue between the two bodies of work and offer new perspectives on their art.

Their time studying together in Mainz still forms the basis for their artistic exchange. Reflection on form, colour and composition continues to play a key role in this.
