From 13th to 15th September, Festival Klassiek achter de Duinen will once again descend on four locations in the city centre of The Hague with the finest chamber music concerts

Klassiek achter de Duinen is an enchanting festival that brings the finest chamber music concerts to the city centre of The Hague. Spread across four atmospheric venues, visitors enjoy a rich variety of classical music performed by talented musicians. This festival offers a unique chance to enjoy intimate concerts in the heart of The Hague, surrounded by the city's charm and cultural splendour.


The programme of the fourth edition of Festival Klassiek achter de Duinen has been announced! Check out the full programme with venues below. 

De Nieuwe Kerk

The Nieuwe Kerk will host most of the concerts during Klassiek achter de Duinen. The programme includes Amsterdam's Dudok Quartet, which comes with a programme inspired by the film A Late Quartet. The concert Ode to the Muse, String Quartets by Beethoven & Schubert, tune-in sessions and, of course, the Opening Concert and the Closing Concert.

  • 14 September 4 pm - String quartets by Beethoven & Schubert

Bart Chapel

  • 14 September 11.30 am - Croissant concert with Bryan Cheng A special and intimate morning concert, for which laureate of the Elisabeth Competition Bryan Cheng was given carte blanche


  • 14 September 13.30 pm - Film screening: A Late Quartet The Film House will screen this Hollywood classic prior to the concert inspired by this film: String Quartets by Beethoven & Schubert.


  • 15 September 13.00 pm  - Stories from Indonesia The Hague, the ‘widow of Indonesia’, has a special bond with the Netherlands' former colony. Decolonisation is not something from the past; today we still have to relate to this history. The stories and music by writer Ellen Deckwitz and soprano Bernadeta Astari are therefore relevant to everyone.

Muzee Scheveningen 

  • 15 September 10.30 am - Musical family performance 4+ In this musical family performance, the playing of a piano brings to life a curious girl from a painting.
