Three musicians perform live on stage with instruments.

At Gnaoua Electro Live, the concept of hybrid music takes on a whole new meaning. Here, traditional North African sounds blend with modern electronica. Two live musical performances will have you dancing: Trans Sahara Electro and Elements of Baraka. Expect a tribute to the rich Gnawa tradition, progressive trance, jazz influences, warm acoustic sounds, harmonies and truly innovative sounds.

Trans Sahara Electro
Trans Sahara Electro is a danceable musical performance where North African history and current affairs come together, led by Efe Erdem (DeDeXgrande). Featuring live electronics and trombone, alongside musicians from the Marmoucha Orchestra and special guest Aziz Ozouss, the performance creates a previously unheard sound, blending jazz, rock, beats, vocals, percussion, guitar and traditional North African instruments.

Elements of Baraka
Elements of Baraka celebrates the spiritual power of Gnawa music and the Sufi ritual of the hadra (collective singing, rhythm and repetition). Adil Smaali draws you into an almost shamanic trance, whilst he and producer/trumpeter Lakay and percussionist Miloon craft a hybrid sound. Here, you’ll hear distorted guembri, tribal percussion and subtle touches of dub and techno. Their modern approach sheds new light on the centuries-old hadra, whilst at the same time honouring the sacred essence of that musical tradition.
