Latin In The Park
20 Jun - 7 Aug
A summer full of music and culture in Zuiderpark
This summer, Zuiderpark will be buzzing with live music, dance and cultural encounters. From salsa and brass bands to Afrobeats and Brazilian rhythms: a variety of open-air events will bring together musical styles and communities from all over the world in The Hague.
During Latin in the Park: Salsa de Puerto Rico, the Gerardo Rosales Orchestra pays tribute to the rich history of Puerto Rican salsa. Well-known classics and danceable rhythms will fill the park during an evening steeped in Caribbean atmosphere.
The Hague’s brass culture will also take centre stage with Brass in the Park. For the first time, The Legendairs, Rhythm Allstars and La Negra will share the stage in a joint show packed with brass music, stories and rhythms. Special guest Nelson Abraham will talk about the history and significance of brass music within the city and the community.
Fans of African music can head to the biggest Afro festival of the summer in Zuiderpark. Featuring Afrobeats, amapiano, Afrohouse and other African music styles, the festival is all about dance, music and culture. As well as live performances and DJ sets, there is a cultural programme of events featuring food, activities and a market.
The Colombian salsa evening is back with a new edition packed with live music and dancing. Mauro Mosquera, former lead singer of Grupo Niche, will be taking to the stage alongside Grupo Chontaduro to perform Colombian salsa classics. There will also be workshops and performances of traditional Colombian music.
In addition, during Brazil in the Park, Zuiderpark will once again be transformed into an open-air festival filled with Brazilian music. Samba Roots Amsterdam will bring traditional samba to The Hague, whilst Os Capangas will perform forró from north-eastern Brazil. The evening will conclude with Brazilian urban sounds and baile funk from DJ Mano Fred.
With this series of events, Zuiderpark will serve as a hub for live music, dance and cultural traditions from different parts of the world this summer.
