The generation that can still recount the Second World War from personal experience is growing ever smaller. With it, a tangible form of remembrance is also disappearing, leaving behind, above all, stories that leave room for distortion and reinterpretation.
In the visual physical performance Leemte, the collective ROTOR explores physical memory: together, they search for what they have forgotten, or are about to forget. For in a void, something is missing, and it is precisely that absence that can be felt.
Can you feel something you’ve never experienced?
We lose our experiences, but not the pain and reality of them. But how do you rediscover something you no longer remember, or that is elusive? With *Leemte*, ROTOR makes a radically empathetic attempt to practise remembering and passing on physical experiences across generations. It is therefore much more than a performance; it is a collective memory through which we can pass on physical experiences. So that shared values can be upheld.
