Being a woman
6 Dec - 4 Jan 2026
Exhibition
What makes a woman a woman? Can this be clearly defined? And is that definition important, or perhaps outdated?
Is 'feminine' a flexible concept? A definition that changes over time? And who defines it? But above all: do individual women allow themselves to be pigeonholed by such descriptions? Fifteen female artists ask themselves the question: what does it mean for me to be a woman in our time? Come and see, admire and question their individual answers in the Mesdag Room.
Participating artists: Riëlle Beekmans, Marianne Benkö, Lon Buttstedt, Mariska van den Enden, Florence Fernhout, Judith Heinsohn, Anja Jager, Mariska Karto, Francien Krieg, Hanneke Naterop, Annemarie Petri, Edith Snoek, Birgitta Sundström Jansdotter, Sandra Thie, Shirley van der Wiel.
