With Sickhomeland and To Break Up With I, artist Naama Shoshana Fogiel Lewin presents the first two chapters of the ongoing performance series Homeland Allergy. In this series, she explores how art can contribute to questioning national identity, collective memory and the relationship between the individual and the state.

Sickhomeland

In Sickhomeland, the audience finds itself right at the heart of the performance. On a shared stage, a single performer moves amongst the audience, creating a physical map of a landscape that is constantly shifting. Through movement, voice and ritual gestures, themes such as loss, memory, grief and resistance are explored.

The body functions simultaneously as an archive and a witness. Personal experiences, political slogans and physical expression come together in a powerful performance that reveals the impact of political systems on people and communities.

To Break Up With I

To Break Up With I is a personal and intimate performance in which Naama Shoshana Fogiel Lewin reflects on her relationship with her native country, Israel. Through movement, sound recordings, texts and memories, she explores how national identity is formed and passed down from generation to generation.

The performance moves between personal stories and collective history, posing questions about belonging, heritage and the meaning of home. The result is a vulnerable and timely performance about identity, memory and the search for one’s own place in a complex world.

Interactive installation

In addition to the performances, the audience forms part of an interactive installation. Visitors can listen to or read from a collection of personal letters written by the artist, her family and members of the international ex-Israeli community. Visitors are also invited to write a letter themselves about their own sense of home, origin or connection.
