‘The Realm of Clarity’ explores ecology, sustainability and the relationship between humans and nature through the lens of Chinese philosophy and contemporary art. The exhibition is on display at Pulchri Studio in The Hague.

Wat is The Realm of Clarity?

The Realm of Clarity is an exhibition that draws on the cultural and philosophical traditions of Chinese civilisation. At its heart is the question of how art and philosophy can contribute to our thinking about ecological challenges and cultural connectedness in a changing world.

Water forms an important starting point in this regard. In Daoist philosophy, water symbolises life, resilience and adaptability. This view offers an alternative perspective on the relationship between people, nature and development.

What can you expect?

The exhibition consists of two parts.

Nourishing All Beings focuses on the ecological value of water and the insights that arise from it. Water nourishes everything without dominating it and symbolises sustainability and balance.

Clarifying All Rivers explores the concept of clarity, both literally and figuratively. The works invite us to reflect on the relationship between humans and nature, and on different ways of living together.

Together, these two elements offer a cultural and philosophical approach to current environmental issues.
