Patrick Drabe and Steffen de Wolff performing on stage during a New Diamonds show

Music theatre show The New Diamonds – The Story of the Blue Diamonds Part 2 comes to Rijswijkse Schouwburg on 15 October 2026. Patrick Drabe and Steffen de Wolff take you into a new theatrical exploration of the life and work of the legendary duo The Blue Diamonds.

Brothers Ruud and Riem de Wolff crossed borders with their sound in the early sixties. As The Blue Diamonds, they played sold-out stadiums across Indonesia, Scandinavia, Australia and Central America, with hits like 'Ramona' as their signature. The rise of The Beatles dramatically shifted the European music landscape, but in the Far East the brothers remained celebrated artists well into the eighties.

The New Diamonds honour The Blue Diamonds' legacy

After Ruud's passing in 2000, Riem found new strength through his son Steffen de Wolff and fellow artists. Together they released the album 'Out Of The Blue' in 2001, produced by Patrick Drabe. This gave birth to The New Diamonds: a new generation keeping the brothers' story alive. Riem continued to perform, both solo and with The New Diamonds, until his passing in 2017.

From De Doelen to Rijswijkse Schouwburg

In 2023, Patrick Drabe and Steffen de Wolff staged a tribute at De Doelen in Rotterdam. The response was overwhelming: audiences wanted more. That led to a full theatre tour and ultimately to this second part, picking up where the first left off. Not a reprise, but a new chapter featuring untold stories, music and the emotion that comes with this family history.
