Cosmic Kitten + Maria's Molotov

Cosmic Kitten has been around since 2016 and hails from San Pedro, the harbour neighbourhood of Los Angeles that also produced bands like The Minutemen. Those roots are audible: the sound is raw, direct and no-nonsense. Vocalist and guitarist Karen Marie steers the band through a setlist that can move from whispered and restrained to full-on shouting, sometimes within a single song. Drummer Zach Huckabee holds it all together with a combination of groove and power, bassist Jay Vesper lays down a fluid foundation, and rhythm guitarist John Chavez piles heavy riffs on top. The result sounds something like a cross between Hole, early Foo Fighters and The Breeders, yet with a signature all its own.

Over ten years, Cosmic Kitten has built an impressive résumé. The band released five full-length albums, independently toured the US and the UK, and shared stages with the likes of Redd Kross, The Dickies, Alice Bag and Mike Watt.
