Sinfonia Rotterdam - Dvořák Serenade voor Strijkers
Enjoy a special evening of music at the historic Kloosterkerk in The Hague. Sinfonia Rotterdam, conducted by principal conductor Conrad van Alphen, presents a surprising programme that brings together classical traditions and contemporary sounds.
From Górecki to Dvořák
The highlight of this concert evening is Avner Dorman’s Double Concerto for mandolin and guitar, performed by Duo Mantar. The duo comprises Jacob Reuven on mandolin and Adam Levin on guitar. The unique combination of these two string instruments, together with the string orchestra, creates a colourful and virtuosic sound. Rhythmic energy and lyrical melodies come together in a compelling contemporary work.
The concert begins with Henryk Górecki’s Three Pieces in the Old Style, in which Renaissance influences blend with a modern musical language. This is followed by Dorman’s Double Concerto for Mandolin and Guitar.
The evening concludes with Antonín Dvořák’s much-loved Serenade for Strings. Warm melodies, Bohemian folk influences and lyrical elegance provide an atmospheric finale.
