Theo Jordans & Bo Emmens - Tweestemmig
17 Sep - 27 Sep
Two artists, two settings
Bo Emmens (Amsterdam, 2001) and Theo Jordans (Venlo, 1956) met in Groede in 2022. They discovered a shared passion and sense of wonder for what they observe around them. Jordans finds his subjects mainly in the landscape. Emmens focuses primarily on the urban environment.
In 2022, whilst in his final year at the St. Joost Academy of Art in Breda, Emmens undertook an internship with Jordans. To mark his 70th birthday, Jordans invited him to present an interim review of their research together.
Differences and similarities
The exhibition focuses on the differences and similarities between the two artists. They both take observation as their starting point and share a similar approach to their subjects. At the same time, each artist has their own visual language and working method.
Despite the difference in age and approach, their works together form a harmonious whole. The exhibition was previously on display in June and July at the Raadskelder in Sluis and is now being presented at Pulchri Studio in The Hague.
A conversation with the artists
On Saturday 12 September at 3.00 pm, Bo Emmens and Theo Jordans will be in conversation about their work. Anna Jordans will moderate the discussion. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to chat further with the artists. This event also serves as a belated opening of the exhibition.
