Ermine Poort - Transformatie 2: The Art Healer
17 Sep - 27 Sep
In Transformation 2: The Art Healer, Ermine Poort presents new work characterised by clean lines and vibrant colours. As well as paintings, there are also three-dimensional works on display.
Transformation in the work of Ermine Poort
Ermine Poort’s work is characterised by clean lines and bright colours. She continues this style in her new exhibition Transformation 2: The Art Healer. However, there is a noticeable shift in the themes of her work.
The word Transformation refers to the way in which Poort has been working for several years now. She uses older, often unfinished work as a basis for creating something new. This approach arose partly out of necessity: unfinished work in her studio was becoming a burden. By reusing it, a form of recycling also emerged.
Personal themes and the present day
The themes in the exhibition are personal. At the same time, they touch on subjects which, according to Poort, are relevant to the present day, as seen through the lens of her own experiences.
The Art Healer is a play on words, but it also has a serious meaning for Poort. She hopes that her art, and art in general, can be seen as a healing force amidst chaos and distraction. According to Poort, she hasn’t quite got there yet, but it remains a goal.
As well as paintings, Ermine Poort is also exhibiting three-dimensional works in this exhibition.
