Coming On Strong band performing on stage during a rock concert tribute to Golden Earring

Rock concert Coming On Strong is on the programme at Rijswijkse Schouwburg. The Hague-based band pays tribute to Golden Earring with a live show full of classics, big hits and a personal story about the band that defined the sound of The Hague.

Coming On Strong does not call itself a tribute band in the traditional sense. The five musicians from The Hague play Golden Earring's music the way it was meant to be heard: live, with full commitment and respect for the original. As a proud third-place finisher in The Tribute: Battle of the Bands, they have already proved their approach hits home. The show is called 'Onze Earring' for a reason - it is a personal story, not a cold imitation.

The setlist: from early classics to live epics

The evening covers a broad sweep of the Golden Earring catalogue. Early tracks like Just A Little Bit Of Peace In My Heart and She Flies On Strange Wings sit alongside the epic live pieces such as Vanilla Queen. And of course the hits are all there: Another 45 Miles, When The Lady Smiles and Radar Love. What makes each show special is that the audience gets a vote on which song absolutely cannot be left off the setlist.

Coming On Strong in The Hague: the people behind the show

The line-up is impressive. Singer Martin van der Starre has previously worked with Jan Akkerman and The Analogues. Drummer Dennis van Hoorn has played alongside Najib Amhali, and bassist Dave Bordeaux is known from Billy The Kid and Diesel. Sound is handled by Frank Winkelman, who was Golden Earring's regular sound engineer from 2010 to 2020. Direction is by Marcel de Vré; production is by GoTown.
