Crank Some Frank
Crank Some Frank is a tribute day dedicated to Frank Zappa at Musicon in The Hague. Four bands – Absolutely Frank, The Arf! Cats Compendium, Ludiosis and the Disco Boyz – bring his wide-ranging music together on one stage.
Frank Zappa never charted in the top 40, but his music is anything but forgotten. Tribute bands and festivals around the world continue to keep his work alive, and that tradition reaches The Hague with Crank Some Frank. Four acts come together to honour Zappa's vast and singular catalogue, each bringing their own take to the stage.
The bands of Crank Some Frank at Musicon
Absolutely Frank lead the way with a six-piece lineup: guitarist and founder Tal Wilkins, Rien van Rijn on guitar and backing vocals, drummer Menno Gramberg, bassist Gerard Albertsboer, vocalist and percussionist Marieke Sytema, and keyboardist Dimitry de Bruin. Together they balance the technical precision of Zappa's compositions with the playful, sometimes absurdist quality that makes his music so distinctive. The Arf! Cats Compendium and Ludiosis complete the live programme, followed by the Disco Boyz – a well-known act from the Mosae Zappa festival in Heerlen.
