Holobiont
29 Oct - 30 Oct
Holobiont by Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot is a five-hour queer happening at Grey Space in the Middle. Performance, drag, dance and music come together on a dance floor without fixed seats, where bodies and identities are in constant motion.
Holobiont starts where fixed forms end. For five hours you move freely through a space with no beginning and no end, no programme booklet, no assigned spot. You wander, dissolve into the crowd and resurface somewhere else. Or you find a corner and watch as everything unfolds around you.
The collective Boogaerdt/VanderSchoot describes it as a subversive playground: a collective ritual and an anarchic dance floor at the same time. Performers transform live and in the open: make-up is wiped off and rebuilt, bodies are tucked, shaped and remade. Glitter appears in unexpected places. Clitty wigs, smeared foundation and bound breasts are not costumes, they are part of a continuous field of change.

In Holobiont, performance, video, text, music and drag merge into a single landscape. There is no hierarchy between viewer and performer; the boundary between audience and stage does not exist here. What remains is a temporary community where genders, bodies and identities are free.
It is an invitation to encounter the unknown in yourself and in others. And then dance together.
Please note: Holobiont may contain loud music, nudity, explicit language and spontaneous gender euphoria. A ticket grants entry at your chosen time slot; once inside, you are welcome to stay as long as you like.
