In his new exhibition at Pulchri Studio in The Hague, artist Martin Koole demonstrates how he has developed his own distinctive visual language. His colourful paintings consist of carefully constructed areas of colour that together form faces, animals, landscapes and still lifes

Each work begins with a sketch, after which the image unfolds step by step on the canvas. What was once a quest to find his own style has evolved into a compelling and personal way of painting. The exhibition reflects Koole’s artistic development and his enjoyment of the painting process. His work exudes tranquillity, balance and craftsmanship, inviting visitors to continually discover new forms and details. During the exhibition, Martin Koole will be present at the gallery every Saturday and Sunday from 1.00 pm to meet visitors and discuss his work.
