Rachel Maclean - They've Got Your Eyes
20 Nov - 17 Jan 2027
At art space 1646 in The Hague, Scottish artist Rachel Maclean is presenting her solo exhibition They’ve Got Your Eyes. Through films, paintings and sculptures, she explores the influence of artificial intelligence (AI) on our society. The exhibition takes you into a unique world where technology, imagination and reality converge.
Artificial Intelligence and the Future
In They’ve Got Your Eyes, Rachel Maclean compares the rapid development of artificial intelligence to the Industrial Revolution. She shows how new technologies are changing our world whilst simultaneously evoking feelings of wonder, fear and uncertainty.
At the heart of the exhibition is a unique film that Maclean created using AI models, trained on her own images and archive material. The story follows a gentleman who discovers a way to create fairies. His discovery leads to a struggle fuelled by ambition, jealousy and a thirst for power.
Alongside the film, the exhibition features AI-generated 3D sculptures and paintings. Together, these artworks form an imaginative, at times humorous yet simultaneously unsettling world. The exhibition invites you to reflect on the influence of technology on identity, creativity and our perception of reality.
