Shenanigans
Shenanigans is a theatre show by De Betovering at Amare Studio in The Hague. Two characters juggle ordinary toys, both literally and figuratively, inviting the audience to reflect on creativity, screens and the power of play.
Foam aeroplanes, a pink Hot Wheels track and an inflatable pool: the props in Shenanigans are anything but high-tech. That is precisely the point. Two characters use these everyday objects to build a world where imagination beats logic and where anything is possible as long as you join in.

The show touches on something familiar: we spend more and more time behind screens, and unstructured, creative play gets pushed aside. Shenanigans takes that space back, not through heavy-handed messaging but through humour and lightness. Along the way, it asks a question that lingers: at what point did we decide that playing is only for children?
