TheaterCafé De Mix at Het Zeeheldentheater in The Hague welcomes The Hague Jazz Project to the stage. On Sunday 25 October 2026, the band brings an evening of swing and colour, led by guitarist Peter Tiehuis, one of the most experienced jazz musicians in the Netherlands.

Over the course of his career, Peter Tiehuis has performed alongside Toots Thielemans, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Herbie Hancock and dozens of others. He was the resident guitarist with orchestras including The Skymasters and the Metropole Orchestra. That wealth of experience comes through on stage, and you can hear it in every note The Hague Jazz Project plays.

The Hague Jazz Project: a Small Big Band in The Hague

THJP is exactly what it sounds like: a Small Big Band. The line-up is full, with saxophones (alto, tenor and baritone), three trumpets, three trombones including bass trombone, and a rhythm section of bass, drums and piano. What sets the band apart is its dynamic range: from a broad, powerful fortissimo to refined, almost intimate passages. That's not a gimmick, but a deliberate musical choice that keeps every set varied and engaging.

TheaterCafé De Mix: jazz in a relaxed setting

TheaterCafé De Mix at Het Zeeheldentheater is an informal venue for live music and good company. The programming is accessible by design: not a grand concert hall, but a warm, intimate space where you follow the musicians up close. For anyone who wants to hear quality jazz without any fuss, this is a great spot in The Hague.
