How to reach our beaches

A day or weekend at the beach in Scheveningen or Kijkduin? Check in advance how you can travel best and fastest. You do not want to spend unnecessarily much time traveling and especially on nice days it can be very busy on the roads to the beach of Scheveningen and Kijkduin. The quickest way to the beach is by public transport, bicycle or scooter. Are you coming by car? Then use Park + Beach.

To Scheveningen: Zwarte Pad, the Kurhaus and the Noordboulevard

By tram

From The Hague HS station:

  • Take tram 1 in the direction of Scheveningen Noord. Get off at the Badhuiskade, Scheveningseslag/Beelden aan Zee, Kurhaus or Zwarte Pad stop.
  • Take the Strandexpress to Scheveningen: the Strandexpress makes no stops outside the train stations and has as final stop the Kurhaus and the Zwarte Pad, departure times can be found at the stops.

From The Hague CS station and The Hague HS station:

  • Take tram 9 in the direction of Scheveningen Noord. Get off at the Kurhaus or Zwarte Pad stop.
  • Take the Strandexpress to Scheveningen: the Strandexpress makes no stops outside the train stations and has as final stop the Kurhaus and the Zwarte Pad, departure times can be found at the stops.

By (share) bike or scooter

You can park your bicycle for free at a Biesieklette parking facility. Get to the beach quickly and easily with a shared bike or scooter, more information about this on the page below.

By car

  • Park + Beach: book a parking space in the center for € 5 per day. Park at the Q-Park Malieveld, CS New Babylon or Laakhaven garages. And travel further to the beach for €1 per person by public transport or an HTM bicycle.
  • OUT OF YOUR CAR: book a parking space at World Forum and continue your journey by bike or taxi to the Zuiderstrand.
  • Park & ​​Bike: book a parking space at P+B Duindigt and continue your journey with the Haagsche Stadsfiets to the beach.

By boat

Rederij Willemsvaart offers various cruises and boat trips. For the beach, get off at the Haringkade mooring. From there you can walk to the beach in 15 minutes. For more information, see: www.willemsvaart.nl

To Scheveningen: Middenboulevard or the Noordelijk Havenhoofd

By tram

  • From The Hague station, take HS tram 1 in the direction of Scheveningen Noord. And get off at the Badhuiskade or Scheveningseslag/Beelden aan Zee stop.
  • From The Hague station, take HS tram 11 in the direction of Scheveningen Haven. Get off at the beach at Halte Strandweg.

Please note: The Strandweg (Between Sculptures by the Sea and the Lighthouse) is regularly closed to prevent traffic congestion. The beach tents here are of course open and can be reached by foot or by bike.

  • Get off at the Markenseplein stop.
  • Walk through the Westduinpark nature reserve to the beach in 10 minutes.
  • From The Hague Central Station, take bus 28 in the direction of Den Haag Zuiderstrand.
  • Get off at the Norfolk stop.

Parking motorcycles in Scheveningen

Are you coming by motorcycle? 2 special lanes with parking spaces have been constructed for motorcycles. Motorbikes park for free.
