Many people are saddened by the end of the Tong Tong Fair The Hague. But there’s good news with a new Dutch-Indonesian cultural festival: Jalan Jalan.
It’s a vibrant celebration filled with music, food, sports, and culture. The festival also embraces Molukkan, Indonesian, and Papuan influences. It’s designed for all ages, locals and visitors alike.
The event will take place throughout the city, both indoors (in museums, hotels, cultural venues, and shops) and outdoors (on stages and public squares). The Lange Voorhout will be the festival’s beating heart. The name Jalan Jalan (which means 'walking') reflects the dynamic, moving spirit of the event, inviting everyone to explore the city.
The official launch is planned for 2026, but in 2025 there will already be a special pre-launch right after the annual Indiëherdenking (commemoration of the Dutch East Indies) on 15 August. Expect live music and a presentation introducing the festival's vision and program.
A perfect moment to get a first taste of what’s to come, so keep an eye on the calendar!
