Jos de l'Orme – Woodcuts

From 8 September to 2 October, the Literaturhaus Deutsche Bibliothek in The Hague is presenting a special exhibition featuring woodcuts by the artist Jos de l'Orme. The exhibition is open to the public free of charge during opening hours, from Tuesday to Friday, from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
About Jos de l'Orme
Jos de l'Orme (Amsterdam, 1962) studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and has been working with the traditional technique of woodcut for decades. His work is characterised by flowing, undulating lines that come together to form impressive compositions.
During the exhibition, both prints on paper and the original wooden plates and blocks will be on display. This gives visitors a unique insight into the creative process and the craftsmanship behind the artworks. De l’Orme draws inspiration from landscapes, animals and portraits of people. In his distinctive style, the carved lines sometimes resemble contour lines in a landscape or subtle tattoos that lend a face extra depth and expression.
