ARK | Connor Schumacher - Asset, Liability & Equity
Dance takes centre stage in 'Asset, Liability & Equity', the new performance by ARK under the direction of Connor Schumacher, presented at Theater De Veste in The Hague.
After previous performances that had audiences jumping out of their seats and moved to tears, ARK returns with a new production. 'Asset, Liability & Equity' asks uncomfortable questions: when does love become a form of competition? When does care start to look like control? And what kind of culture do you actually live in?
ARK and Connor Schumacher at Theater De Veste
The performance brings five powerful performers together in an arena setting that ARK describes as a mix of concert dance and The Hunger Games: intense, energetic and confrontational. Care and capitalism clash, solidarity and self-reliance stand opposed. Empathy is framed as weakness, authority disguises itself as protection, and love sometimes demands obedience. Striking scenography and provocative costumes amplify the message Schumacher lays out on stage.
A dance performance that raises questions
This show sets out to do more than entertain. 'Asset, Liability & Equity' seduces, unsettles and confronts. What do you resist and when do you surrender? You'll love it, you'll hate it, but how much can you take? Theater De Veste is where you find out for yourself.
