In an international city like The Hague, thousands of stories coexist, but forging genuine connections often proves difficult. That is why IDOBATA Stories brings people together at a unique storytelling event in The Hague, where personal stories, culture and human connection take centre stage

Discover IDOBATA Stories

IDOBATA Stories is an intimate platform for storytelling and community building, inspired by the Japanese tradition of gathering at the well. Instead of formal theatres, the event creates a warm, living-room atmosphere where visitors from different backgrounds can meet, listen and inspire one another.

During IDOBATA Stories, the theatre transforms into a cosily lit meeting place. No scripts, no formal performances and no distance between speaker and audience – just real stories, open conversations and genuine human connection. This cultural event in The Hague offers space for raw emotions, relatable experiences and new perspectives.

The evening is hosted by Terra Norihiro Terazawa, a Japanese storyteller and theatre maker from The Hague and former director of a storytelling centre. With his international background and passion for community storytelling, he creates a safe and inspiring environment where everyone feels welcome.
