Op zondag 3 augustus 2025 keert het kleurrijke en levendige The Hague African Festival (THAF) terug in Den Haag. Het festival viert sinds 2008 de rijkdom en diversiteit van Afrikaanse cultuur, en biedt bezoekers een unieke ervaring vol muziek, dans, mode, kunst en eten uit de Afrikaanse diaspora.


A celebration of modern and traditional African music
The Hague African Festival is known for its inclusive character and diverse line-up. In 2025, the emphasis will be on the fusion of modern and traditional African music. From Afrobeats to traditional rhythms and soulful fusion: the programming offers a stage to both established artists and emerging talent from home and abroad. Previous editions welcomed big names such as Youssou N’Dour, Sauti Sol, Angélique Kidjo and Werrason. The full line-up for this year will be announced via the official channels of the festival.
Festival day
On Sunday 3 August 2025, the vibrant festival The Hague African festival - Afrobeats will take place in the atmospheric Zuiderparktheater in The Hague. Admission is free, and the program offers something for everyone: live music, dance performances, fashion shows, a market, street food and workshops. The event is accessible to young and old, and invites you to meet, experience and cultural exchange.
Additional programming
Several events will take place in The Hague around the main edition on August 3:
- 7 t/m 18 juli African Expo: Black Queens - Women Driving Change
Atrium Den Haag - an exhibition about the role of black women within the African diaspora. - 9 juli Africa Living Room Sessions
Amare - musical pre-programs and after-party drinks surrounding the Youssou N’Dour concert. - 12 juli African Film Night - An evening dedicated to contemporary African cinema.
- 13 juli Elevate Talent Show Auditions - Launch of the new Elevate Talent Program, focused on young artists from the African diaspora.
New course under the Nteasee Foundation
The festival has recently been organized by Stichting Nteasee, led by Augustina “MS.ABA” Austin. The organization is committed to building bridges between Africans and Dutch people and offers a powerful cultural platform with an inclusive and future-oriented vision via THAF
The Hague African Festival 2025 is the place to experience the dynamics of African culture in the Netherlands, a day full of music, connection and inspiration in the heart of The Hague.
