AMARE x The Hague African Festival – 4 July
The festival month opens with a collaboration with Amare. On Saturday, 4 July, Senegalese artist Baaba Maal takes centre stage with a concert, accompanied by a daytime programme featuring an African market, talks and Africa Living Room Sessions.
African Expo
In collaboration with Stichting Topaze, young people from neighbourhoods across The Hague create art projects inspired by the festival's annual theme. The artworks will be exhibited at Amare.
Elevate Talent
The Elevate Talent Programme offers emerging artists a professional platform to showcase and further develop their talent. In collaboration with partners including Musicon, young creatives receive coaching, performance opportunities and the chance to present their work during The Hague African Festival (THAF).
African Film
In collaboration with Filmhuis Den Haag, the festival presents a film programme under the theme Beyond Independence. The programme explores how independence continues to shape the lives of the African diaspora today—from navigating life between here and there, to relationships with "home", and the impact of postcolonial history on identity, migration and the sense of belonging.
