Silliness and other technologies
16 Oct - 18 Oct
At Grey Space in the Middle in The Hague, an artist presents the results of her residency at De Grafische Werkplaats: an installation of screen-printed textiles, drawings, sculptures and everyday objects, supported by the Makersregeling of the municipality of The Hague.
Silliness and other technologies grows from research into moments of sensory disruption and porousness: situations where the boundary between self and other becomes unstable. Working with screen printing on textile, the artist uses pattern, repetition, scale and distortion as storytelling tools, giving everyday occurrences a mythical or symbolic dimension.
At the heart of the work is the question of how women inhabit spaces of joy, playfulness and curiosity without needing to produce anything or justify their actions. Play and craft are not incidental here, they are central to the research method. Through repetition and playful processes, the artist explores forms of attention and knowledge that exist outside productivity and control.
Installation at Grey Space in the Middle in The Hague
The exhibition brings together drawings, printed textiles, suspended elements and sculptures alongside everyday materials and overlooked objects. These combinations reveal connections between function and decoration, value and invisibility, control and play. The project was made possible by the Makersregeling of the municipality of The Hague and is free to visit.
