Important icon for The Hague

The Pier in Scheveningen extending 400 metres into the sea with its islands was built around 1900 as a wooden promenade above the sea. It burned down in 1943, but in 1961 the Pier was rebuilt out of cement and officially reopened. Nowadays the Pier offers shops, restaurants a picnic area and sun decks, to name such a few. In October 2014, De Pier acquired two new owners: KondorWessels Vastgoed (VolkerWessels) and Xcentric Hotesl BV. They have turned De Pier into a creative and innovative place with catering, art and culture.
