A luxury 5 star hotel part of the Leading Hotels of the World, with more than 140 years of remarkable history behind its doors, elegance and grandeur come standard at Hotel Des Indes. The property was originally built in 1858 as a stately mansion for the treasurer of King Willem III, Baron van Brienen, before being turned into a hotel in 1881. The entrance used to be a gate where carriages would enter into the courtyard and could turn around on the ‘rotunda’. From the vestibule stairs into the courtyard, guests were escorted to the ballroom for Baron van Brienen's extravagant parties.
Rooms
Hotel Des Indes is still widely considered to be one of the finest five-star hotels in the country and remains the preferred hotel for many heads of state, aristocrats and celebrities. In 2006, the hotel was completely renovated by French interior designer Jacques Garcia. His design, classically modern whilst respecting the history of the building, has brought this monument to life. The hotel continues a tradition of grandeur in each of its 92 uniquely designed rooms and suites. Vaulted ceilings, rich draperies, plush bedding, and the latest technology envelop you in comfort.
Culinary experiences
The chandeliers, draperies and comfortable seats in the Restaurant and Lounge are a living monument to the era that Hotel Des Indes was a city palace, where heads of state were entertained. The hotel’s commitment to offer the highest standards is reflected in the delicious dishes that the Chef has created from premium quality local products.
Royal High Tea
The legendary Hotel Des Indes High Tea is pure indulgence. The quality of this typically English tradition is known far beyond the city limits and is a culinary taste explosion of several courses. Everything is homemade by the hotel's own pastry chef.
