The Zuiderstrand is one of the most beautiful parts of The Hague. Among Hagenaars it is also known as the 'quiet beach'. And rightly so. It is the quiet - 'secret' - alternative between Scheveningen and Kijkduin, directly behind the dunes, for everyone who loves the beach and the sea. You will mainly find residents of The Hague here - in addition to some tourists who sometimes know how to find this place.
During summertime the Zuiderstrand is the perfect place to relax at one of the authentic beach pavilions with an breathtaking view of a beautiful sunset. The beach clubs here are praised for their friendly staff, delicious dishes and casual atmosphere.
Are you in to culture? You will find it here too. Most beach pavilions regularly host shows, live music and performances. At the beach pavilion De Fuut you can admire "de Strandbeesten' (The Beach Beasts) by local scientist-artist Theo Jansen. And if you're lucky, you might be able to see the artist working on his spectacular creations.
Yoga by the sea
In summer, yoga classes are held on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings at Strandpaviljoen Zuid. You do not need to register in advance. A wonderful zen way to start to your day.
Water sports at the Zuiderstrand
The Zuiderstrand is the perfect place for water sports. From April till the end of September catamarans of the "Haagse Kust Zeil Vereniging" (HKZV) can be found at 'Strandafslag' 10.
