The best ice cream in The Hague

Where can you find the best ice cream in The Hague?

Ice cream. Who doesn’t love it? An ice cream isn’t just a treat for children. And it’s not just delicious in summer either. But it does have to be good ice cream. And as it happens, The Hague has loads of ice cream parlours serving delicious and special ice cream in unique flavours, including even vegan ice cream. And, another great thing, most of these parlours are open all year round.

Hop & Stork | Passage 82

At Hop & Stork, they don’t just make the most delicious chocolate; their ice cream is also delicious. Naturally, the chocolate features in the ice cream. The dark chocolate ice cream is even completely vegan and tastes heavenly. Alongside many other flavours, there are three other vegan options on the menu, such as mango, raspberry and apple and elderflower. In the summer, they use these to make iced tea, which they serve on the terrace.

Het Ijskabinet | No. 31

If there’s often a queue outside, the ice cream must be good. And that’s absolutely right! At Het IJskabinet, they have so many unusual flavours of ice cream (including bitterkoekjes) that it’s almost impossible to choose. And the scoops are nice and big, too. So join the queue! The wait is more than worth it.

Piet Artisans of Flavour | Piet Heinstraat 76 & Roggeveenstraat 143

For an adventurous ice cream experience, head to  Piet Artisans of Flavour in the Zeeheldenkwartier. The owners are globetrotters and bring together their experiences with ice cream from various countries in their cheerful and fresh parlour. So the menu features exotic flavours such as chai masala, halva ice cream made from sesame seeds and Campari ice cream.

Piet uses the finest ingredients; the nuts come from Italy and they love working with local suppliers and seasonal fruit. Sustainable and with different flavours every time! Since June 2026 Piet opened a second location on Roggeveenstraat. Here you can enjoy artisan soft-serve ice cream with a deliciously creamy texture, which you can customise entirely to your own taste with a wide selection of toppings and other treats.

Bij Lotje | Elandstraat 55

Also in the creative Zeeheldenkwartier is Bij Lotje. A cosy, cheerful ice-cream parlour with flavours for the whole family. You can sit back and relax on the cosy terrace. At Bij Lotje, they have new ice-cream flavours every season, so you can be surprised time and time again. As well as ice cream, you can also enjoy a good cup of coffee and delicious cakes at Bij Lotje.

IJsCaffè Sì | Strandweg 71

At IJscaffè Si on the Scheveningen promenade, you can savour the taste of Italy. The artisanal ice cream is freshly prepared here every day using organic milk from local farms. No ready-made mixes or unnecessary additives, just pure craftsmanship and authentic flavours. As well as an extensive range of ice creams, you can also pop in for a good cup of coffee, matcha or Dubai chocolate strawberries. The perfect stop-off during a day at the seaside!

Dolce Freddo | Frederikstraat 583

On the charming Frederikstraat, you’ll find Dolce Freddo! Dolce Freddo isn’t just an ice-cream parlour but also a place to enjoy a good cup of coffee, ice-cream cakes and chocolates. Outside, they have a cosy terrace where you can enjoy all these treats, or you can take a seat inside the atmospheric café. A lovely place to stop off whilst you’re out shopping on Frederikstraat!

Pink Almond | 211 Appelstraat

OK, it takes a bit of effort to get there. Pink Almond isn’t in the city centre but in the charming Vruchtenbuurt neighbourhood. But it’s well worth the effort. Pink Almond’s ice cream is artisanal, full of flavour and fresh. Every day there are 12 different flavours of ice cream, sorbet, yoghurt ice cream, vegan ice cream and sugar-free vegan ice cream.

Pink Almond takes sustainability seriously. Instead of disposable spoons, they use metal spoons that are returnable. The ice-cream display case is a so-called pozzetti. These enclosed units use 50–60 per cent less energy than traditional open display cases. What’s more, the ice cream is always covered, which in turn helps to maintain its quality.

Luciano's | Frederik Hendriklaan 230B & Theresiastraat 41 & Weimarstraat 87a

When you say Italian ice cream, you mean Luciano’s. And this is clearly evident from its three busy branches in The Hague. What else would you expect from a modern, fresh and cheerful ice-cream parlour serving delicious, fresh, artisanal ice cream in all sorts of flavours? The ice cream is made by an SVH Master Ice Cream Maker (the highest level of professional expertise in ice cream making in the Netherlands). At Luciano’s, they want everyone to enjoy themselves to the full. Even if you have certain allergies, you can still enjoy ice cream (and cones) here.

Florencia | Torenstraat 55

This Italian ice-cream parlour has been a household name in The Hague for almost 100 years. Generations of locals have enjoyed their ice cream here. When you step inside Florencia, it feels as though time has stood still; a beautiful, classic interior just as you’d expect in Italy itself. But at the same time, Florencia moves with the times and serves lactose-free and vegan ice cream! It has also developed a special beer-flavoured ice cream in collaboration with its neighbours  Kompaan Bier. Find a spot on the cosy terrace and enjoy your ice cream and the eclectic crowd.

Opa Pino is Scheveningen’s go-to ice cream parlour! At this hotspot by the harbour, you can enjoy freshly churned Italian ice cream in all sorts of flavours, from classic stracciatella to surprising seasonal specials. The cosy interior is super Instagrammable and pays homage to the concept’s Italian origins. As well as ice cream, Opa Pino is also the place to go for a delicious lunch or a good cup of coffee.
