De Zwarte Ruiter takes death seriously with the best tequilas & mezcal, an intense skull decor, lots of flowers, a face painting bar and the best mariachi bands this side of the Mexican border. Why? We are certain of a few things in life: you have to pay taxes, the Grote Markt is always there for you and life is not endless. For many, death is nothing other than scary or causes sadness. Some cultures deal with this differently and we think how the day of the dead in Mexico honors the deceased is a beautiful concept. Colorful ofrendas, tasty food, generous shots of tequila and mezcal, but also nice music. Have your face painted and reflect with a warm feeling on who you have lost. For whoever does not honor the dead is denied life.
Due to the great success of previous editions, in addition to the Zwarte Ruiter, Café September has also been transformed into Mexican ground.
