Worth knowing about churches in The Hague
Nieuwe Kerk: In the 18th century there were tombs and mourning plates in the church. The mourning signs had to be removed in 1795 by order of the French rulers. A dozen tombstones have been placed in the walls of the basement. The tomb of Baruch Spinoza is located in the church garden.
Grote Kerk: Church with a royal history. Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard married here, just like Princess Margriet and Pieter van Vollenhoven forty years later. On June 12, 2004, the baptism of Princess Catharina-Amalia took place in the Grote Kerk, amid great interest and with many royal guests.
