A young woman with curly hair standing in front of paintings in a gallery.

Discover the work of Aga Rymuszka, in which the strange and the everyday come together in paintings full of distortion and imagination.

In her work, Aga Rymuszka explores the boundary between the familiar and the alienating. She collects images, experiences and cultural fragments and translates these into paintings in which reality is distorted.

Her work reveals a world that feels both strange and familiar. The grotesque and the unusual play a central role. She sees these elements as direct expressions of human existence, free from fixed norms.

Rymuszka’s visual language is influenced by theatre, carnival and puppetry. Her work also draws on twentieth-century art movements such as Dada and Die Brücke. Her paintings oscillate between fantasy and reality, depicting situations that are not straightforward.

The opening will feature a performance by artist roni(a) Johansson. This work focuses on the body. Through repetition and delay, tension is created and expectations regarding time and behaviour are explored.
