Classical NOW! – Lux Aeterna Revoice
Classical music
Impressive choir concert in the Paleiskerk: Alter Ratio presents Lux Aeterna Revoice with voice, technology and emotion.
Impressive and Innovative Vocal Spectacle
The Ukrainian vocal ensemble Alter Ratio is making a name for itself internationally with its innovative and moving performances. Now the twelve singers are making their Dutch debut with Lux Aeterna Revoice.
The focus is on György Ligeti's iconic masterpiece Lux Aeterna, known from Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey. Surrounding this work are four brand-new compositions that uniquely interweave the human voice with an electronic soundscape.
A musical journey between voice and silence
Ligeti's sixteen-part composition takes on a new, poignant dimension in this performance. The voices of Alter Ratio are complemented by four electronic parts – like echoes of voices silenced by war.
In Disappearing Voices, Maxim Kolomiiets expresses the vulnerability of disappearing voices. In Sub Rosa, Maxim Shalygin creates a labyrinth of melodies and soundscapes that embrace and contradict each other. Alla Zagaykevych evokes a constant movement between hope and despair in Psalms of Falling, while Peter Kerkelov lets the light of vanished souls glow in Phos-phorus as signposts for the living.
Photo exhibition: Regeneration Generation – Messages from Kharkiv
In addition to the concert, the photo exhibition Regeneration Generation – Messages from Kharkiv by photographer Christian van der Kooy will also be on display. An impressive visual journey through the power, resilience and creativity of Ukrainian artists in times of war.
