Two masterpieces

The Residentie Orkest and the Dutch National Opera Academy present Kurt Weill's Die sieben Todsünden and Viktor Ullmann's Der Kaiser von Atlantis: two 20th-century masterpieces that feel painfully contemporary today. Weill takes you on a journey through seven cities where sisters Anna 1 and Anna 2 commit each of the deadly sins in an attempt to save their family. Ullmann, who wrote his work in Theresienstadt concentration camp, paints a harrowing picture of a war machine that locks in even death. This unique double bill is full of poetry, black humour and confrontational questions about the world we live in.
