Paint and Canvas: Painting in Dialogue

In the exhibition Paint and Canvas, artists Doortje van Ginneken and Rik van Hazendonk bring together their diverse approaches to painting. Drawing on a shared appreciation as friends and colleagues, they demonstrate just how versatile the medium can be. The exhibition is an ode to the process of painting: a continuous quest in which intuition, material and imagination converge.

Two artists, one fascination

Doortje takes landscapes as her starting point and allows her work to develop step by step on the canvas, whilst Rik works with loose pieces of fabric, ranging from canvas to old cloths. Both are guided by what the material and the process demand. The result is an exhibition in which painting is not only visible on the canvas, but can also be felt in the journey towards it.
