About the film
In Ellis Park, you delve into the surprising double life of Warren Ellis – known as Nick Cave's regular musical partner and member of The Dirty Three. For thirty years, he has been winning hearts with his violin and untamed beard, but behind the scenes, he is also the co-founder of a shelter for abused and smuggled animals in Indonesia.
Far away from the stage, Ellis finds inspiration and peace in nature. Together with the passionate Dutch vet Femke den Haas, he rescues animals that have fallen victim to poaching and illegal trade. At their sanctuary, Ellis Park, these animals are given a second chance – and so is Warren himself.
Director Justin Kurzel presents a poetic and raw portrait of a man who proves that creativity, compassion and activism go hand in hand. This documentary touches, surprises and shows how much impact you can make when you use your talent and your heart to create a better world.
Be swept away by images full of music, nature and humanity. An evening in the Dome where content and experience come together, and where you may well look at your own role on this earth in a different light.
