Franck, Hindemith & Scriabin
Classical music
Davidsbündler Music Academy welcomes Mikhail Zemtsov and Borys Fedorov this evening.
The evening's programme takes you through three diverse musical styles: passion, clarity and change. Scriabin's Five Pieces (in an arrangement for viola and piano) open the evening with short, dreamy pieces full of late Romantic colours and restrained emotion. Hindemith's Sonata in F major, Op. 11 No. 4 then provides a clear contrast. The music is tight, rhythmic and clear, revealing a composer searching for structure in changing times. They conclude with César Franck's Violin Sonata — played here on the viola — a powerful and continuous narrative in which the main themes return in ever-changing guises.
