Georgie Brinkman - Trickster in the Capitalocene

For the last few years, Georgie has been making puppets based on a taxidermy extinct bird collection at Naturalis Biodiversity Center to become characters in short films.
This workshop is one element of her artistic research project exploring the past and afterlives of these extinct birds. Participants will be introduced to three research areas that she links together as a way to think through methods of extinction storytelling: puppetry, mythological Tricksters and riddles.
By looking at examples from a 10th century Anglo-Saxon riddle anthology, she will introduce her method of riddle-writing as a tool to think about extinction, as well as introducing you to her collection of 61 extinct bird finger puppets!
