Compositions for Takeshi Kitano's cult films
Throughout his long career, Hisaishi has written a wide variety of music for films, anime, computer games, television and commercials. He also composed the music for the 1998 Paralympic Games in Nagano. His best-known compositions are those for Takeshi Kitano's cult films and, of course, Hayao Miyazaki's anime.
Hisaishi and Miyazaki are a match made in heaven, a union of equally brilliant creators. We will never know for sure: did Miyazaki's films become brilliant thanks to Hisaishi's music, or was it the other way around?
