The Hou van je Huis Woondag – literally, the Love Your Home Day – will take place from 10:00 to 17:00 hours on Saturday, May 30 in the Atrium City Hall. Discover how to live more pleasantly, comfortably and energy-efficiently. You will find practical advice and smart solutions to increase comfort and reduce energy costs. Admission is free.

Free tips and personal advice
Several organisations, municipal services and local specialists will be there to help you with all your questions. Drop by the experts that include: homeowners associations and subsidy advisors; the Haaglanden Community Health Services about heat stress and health; the Huurbalie home rental desk; residents’ initiatives from various neighbourhoods in The Hague; the Stichting Duurzaam Den Haag (sustainable The Hague foundation); Milieu Centraal (environmental organisation) and its ‘improvement check’; Energietransitie (energy transition) for its address locater; the Vereniging Eigen Huis (house owners association); Schroeder with its circular building stall; and Mina for using denim to make curtains.

Get information on things like opting for a green roof or a roof with solar panels, or raising your energy label through insulation. You can get free advice and practical tips without obligation at every stand. This can help you find out quickly and easily how you can live more comfortably while saving on your monthly expenses.

Knowledge sessions
You can also join various knowledge sessions between 10:00 and 17:00 hours. These will be held in the wedding chamber and in the foyer of the council chamber. They will be about subjects such as green roofs and the use of cork and sedum, heat pumps, home improvements to save energy, organising a street action to arrange shared solar panels, dealing with damp and mould issues, and making a VvE (homeowners association) more sustainable. The Environmental Quality and Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee will share the outcomes of a survey of 8.000 home owners carried out this year by SEPO.

Drawing the winning lot
Apart from getting useful tips and advice, you may also win an energy box. Five winners will be drawn from among the participants in each round. The draw will be at 13.00 and 16.45 hours.
