Jenna Sutela, Vermi cell 2023 (c) Dick Tacke

This autumn, Stroom The Hague is proud to open Ave bossa, bow ole, Finnish artist Jenna Sutela's first solo exhibition in the Netherlands. With this immersive presentation, Sutela invites the audience into a world where everything is connected: from microscopic life to self-built technologies, from intuition to compost.

Living technology between earth and breath

In Ave bossa, bow ole, you step into a world where technology does not shine, but fizzles. Here, artist Jenna Sutela explores systems that feel, react and transform just like us, but also completely different. Instead of cold precision, she opts for rawness and rhythm, with her concept “Tech Povera”: technology as a living organism, fuelled by impermanence and decay. Thus, the work Vermi-Cell shimmers in Stroom's basement, where worms, flower compost and an earth battery make music together. The installation asks a radical question: what if intelligence also lurks in earth, fungi and machines? Sutela invites you to feel again what connection and consciousness can mean - outside humans, but in the midst of life.
